How we're navigating the new US import tariffs (and what it means for you)

 

Important Update for Our US Customers: New Import Tariffs

We wanted to update our US customers about some recent changes that may affect your Quirkify orders. The United States has recently removed its $800 “de minimis” exemption on imports.

Previously, orders valued under $800 could enter the US without additional duties or taxes. With this exemption gone, all products shipped from overseas are now subject to import tariffs, regardless of their value. These tariffs are additional taxes charged at the border, and they affect every parcel shipped from the UK.

What’s Changing?

To avoid delays and unexpected charges when your order arrives, we’re working on a system to calculate and pre-pay import duties at checkout. This way, you’ll know the full cost upfront, and your parcel should arrive without extra fees or surprise bills. It's still a work in progress though - so if anything doesn't look right to you at checkout, please reach out to us before paying so we can make sure everything is working as it should.

Unfortunately, this does mean our products will be a little more expensive for US customers. We want to be very clear: these extra costs are government tariffs, not an increase on our end. We’re not profiting from the change — we’re simply passing on the required duty so that your order can travel smoothly.

Which Products Are Affected?

Because tariffs apply to everything shipped from the UK, this change affects the items we make ourselves and send directly to you, including:

  • Raktajino mugs

  • Jewellery

  • Laser-cut puzzles

  • Embroidered clothing

However, our printed range (such as printed mugs and clothing) will be unaffected, since those items are produced and shipped from within the US by our trusted partners.

Shipping Delays & Patience Please

Right now, many UK shipping companies are still adapting to the new system, and some have even paused US shipping altogether while they figure things out. We’ll continue to ship wherever possible, but there may be occasional delays as carriers update their processes. We really appreciate your patience as we navigate this transition.
